The 30k (18.6 miles) is part of the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge for the third year in a row, and the 10K for the second. The Distance Challenge also includes the Run Free Texas ’80s 8k, Run For The Water 10 Miler, Decker Challenge Half Marathon , 3M Half Marathon, and the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon.
History of the Race:
The 30K distance was reinsated to the Distance Challenge in 2013 after a 5 year hiatus. Prior to its reinstatement, the most recent was the ARA 30K in 2008, which took place in the hilly Barton Creek Country Club area. Before this, the RunTex 30K ran for 7 years in the city of Buda.
The 30K race will offer a great test of fitness during the Distance Challange, with the 10K and Half Marathon providing alternative options for those who want to race the shorter distances. In addition, the Kids 1K will be great fun for the Kids.
The races will start and finish at Cedar Park High School, the 30K is a large loop that allows runners to see many portions of the City of Cedar Park. All races will be run on portions of the same course.
Free Kids 1K: Raising Cane’s will sponsor a free kids 1K starting at 9 AM at the High school track. Entrants will receive a bib # and a ribbon.
